About
I write software.
I watch Twitch.
Wouldn’t it be great to find a way to combine the two?
That’s how it all started. In first getting into it, there was a lot of curiosity surrounding how all of the on-screen components actually worked together. How are these donations and follows triggering animations? What are they using to overlay the animations on top of the screen? I dug into it, and was somewhat disappointed by what I found. Most everything is done with web overlays or static animations. That can be made to look really great, but I wanted to see if it could be taken to the next level.
It was apparent that there were exceptions out there. Dr. Disrespect had his automated BoomTV clip replay system; that was cool. I saw Harris Heller pushing HTML stuff to the max, as well as creating visually interesting camera hacks; also cool. But could you leverage something more powerful? What if we could drop a full-fledged game engine on top of a stream? What if, instead of sequential alerts, they were cumulative? Imagine the buildup, culminating in some fantastic display. This would practically remove all limitations, and that’s what I’m making.
